Job Summary:
A successful network engineering candidate will bring 5+ years of solid network engineering experience using the Cisco platforms.
We are looking for a network engineer to help design, deploy, maintain and manage LAN and MPLS WAN network infrastructure. Ensuring a rock solid production environment and supporting the implementation of our start-of-the-art video centric e-Learning and other Web 2.0 Services.
Summary of Position:
This position is responsible for designing, implementing, supporting and maintaining IP Network and data-center infrastructure including LAN, WAN, OSPF, BGP, firewall administration, wireless, VPN, and VoIP.
- Assist with the management of all aspects of the networking platforms being utilized including maintenance and release levels, support services, backup and recovery, security, and performance.
- Coordinate the support of applications that utilize the network infrastructure.
- Proactively monitor and tune the network infrastructure and equipment to ensure high availability and superior performance.
Network Engineer Essential Duties and Responsibilities/Principal Accountabilities include:
- Perform timely and accurate maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting of the LAN and WAN network and communications infrastructure. Comprehensive documentation and communication must be maintained and properly filed and/or distributed. This includes, but is not limited to, drawings, procedures, schedules, work orders, time sheets, contact lists, email, conference calls, and training sessions.
- Troubleshoot reported problems accurately and in a timely and effective manner. Offer remedies and/or perform necessary actions to eliminate or reduce the chances of the problem reoccurring. Where applicable, provide and encourage the use of comprehensive documentation and/or procedures that will allow the customer to be more self-supportive.
- Aid in the development and deployment of new applications through timely and comprehensive communication of issues concerning LAN/WAN capability and performance, operating systems, disaster recovery, availability, accessibility and security.
Responsibilities
The Sr. Network Engineer will be responsible for deploying and maintaining technologies such as: Ethernet/IP, IP-VPNs, MPLS, VOIP, IPTV, and related next generation IP video services and applications into viable new products. As part of our client's team, the Sr. Network Engineer will develop technical designs and operational recommendations required for deployment and support of the company's service infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Architect/Design IP based network solutions primarily upon company's MPLS core network. These solutions include the use of VPLS, VPRN, VLL and other Layer 2/3 networking protocols to allow for voice, video, Internet, and other data services.
- Perform proof of concept and full validation testing of new or modified network solutions Layer 2/3 network stress tools. Provide documentation of test plans and results.
- Document method and procedures, work instructions, provisioning guidelines and engineering specifications. Interface at the appropriate technical level to assist with the definition, design, test, and support of these services offered over company's various data networks.
- Manage IP Services Operations and NOC.
- Responsible for the development of Next Generation network standards and policies.
